Anyone get a new Funtana X 50 yet?

I sure would like to see some pictures of the bottom of the wing.

The Horizon site today says early July. Earlier this week it said mid June. I am sure they are waiting for the boat to hit shore.

Any clue as to the bottom of the wing? I've got one coming. I'm just very anxious.

No, I wish I did. I liked the transparent on my old F40. A lot of guys didn't but I thought it was different. You would think out of 7 pics one would show the bottom.

If you look close enough, you can see a little of the yellow color that is on the top. I don't think it will be see through, though. I have the 90, I wanted something to throw around with a .91 four stroke.

Hey People, A fellow club member picked up his Funtana 100 X yesterday in Las Vegas

RE: Anyone get a new Funtana X 50 yet?

Hey guys, I just picked up my 100X today. The bottom of the wing is the burnt orange like the trim, with dark blue stripes on the ends. I imaging the 50X will have the yellow trim on the bottom of the wing.

How about some pics? I'm hoping my 100 will come in soon.

I'll try to get some in the next day or two. I won't be able to start assembly until this weekend. I have to tell you, I'm pretty impressed so far. No wrinkles to iron, everything is packed superbly, and even the control horn locations are predrilled. The colors look so much better than in the ads. It really is a good looking plane.

Still awaiting the Saito 1.25 and the hitec 5645 servos....

DP Go to the Horizon site. There is a video on the page with the plane that shows the FX50 in flight. The bottom of the wing looks trans yellow like the original.

Got my Funtana X 50 today. The bottom of the wing is a Cub yellow. Same as the stripe on the fuse and top of wing.

RE: Anyone get a new Funtana X 50 yet?

i have flown mine about a 10 times now, some 15mph winds and some calm. this is exactly the airframe i was searching for, pattern flying precision and 3D capabilities.
i used the Saito 82 4 stroke,
standard servos all around except for the hi speed/torque elevetor,
optic 6 radio,

i did not make any alterations from the directions and it flies wonerfully. the hi-rates recommendations are too much for my taste.

i beleive the CG may be cautiously recommended and plan to move aft beyond the recommendation for the 3D applications.

the only issues with the build was with the rear stab being uneven but corrected easily with triming.

even the cowl cutting was acceptable by following the instructions.

i did locate the battery up against the tank and still added 3" of tape lead to get to the recommended CG.

the Saito 82 is extreme for this light build. having tried a 13x6 and 13x4w i will be trying a 13x4 regular apc for better hovering (right now it is either a tail slide or vertical climb).

now for the only real issue and if you have a suggestion be sure to let me know:

i am getting only 8.5 minutes of flight time with the 11oz tank supplied. my engine is still running on the rich side since it is new but most flights are 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. yep, 2 flights ended up with OOG dead sticks,,,,,,,,,sure glad it glides like a profile!

so what supplier makes odd sized fuel tanks,,,,,,,,the only limits are the length @ 4.5" due to the wing mount. the height and width could be twice the size of the stock unit.

yes i would recommend this as a great flying, slow fast pattern and 3d flier. we shall see how long it lasts!

RE: Anyone get a new Funtana X 50 yet?

regets ama. I don't think you have enough prop on your 82. It should turn a 14x4 with no problem. A 13x4W would overspeed the engine IMHO.I feel like you are way to rich on you high and maybe the low. This would explain the fuel consumption. On my old F40 I ran the 82 on 30% with a 15x4W. I was flying 10 minutes and landing with fuel every time. Of course this is 3D flying. I only used full power 1/4 of the time. Mostly it was 2/3 power or less.

Here is a picture of the bottom of the wing. I'm still finishing up mine but it's going together very easily. The quality is very impressive.

Look's nice I have an .82 looking for a home, maybe I will pick one up. I would like to hear more about this plane.

Thanks

I am looking at this plane also.
What I am most interesting in hearing about is how the SFGs perform and enhance the aircraft performance.
Will it knife-edge, etc.

Keep us posted,
Ryan

RE: Anyone get a new Funtana X 50 yet?

thanks for the info, i'll try the 14x4 next time the wind is under 25mph!
i did get a response from horizon, they suggested a second tank similar to helicopter as a reserve. it surely has plenty of room in there width wise,,,,,,,,

it is such a great pattern plane, now for the 3d stuff

I got mine yesterday and flew it this morning. One of the easiest to build & fly birds I have ever had. My .91 4-stroke was being a pain in the ***** so I put in my trusty old Super Tigre .61 up front and she will flat go out of sight!

Of I remember right the OS .61 is in a smaller case than the Super Tigre .61 and mine fit fine.

What's the difference between the Funtana 50 and the 40, just the side force generatorwhatchamacallitgizmothingies? Just finished rebuilding and covering a 40. I stuck a Magnum .91 in the cowl without any problems and that's with a HS80MG throttle servo on the engine-side of the firewall. It should spin a 16x4 rather nicely. I doubt I'd ever buy another though......it can't go fast and and it's nowhere near as agile as a Twist or Katana. It's just not the style of bird I like to fly...so please don't take offense by my humble opinion.

Peace,

Downtrodden.
