power to weight problems
Hello,
I am just preparing my self to enter the world of 3D. I am looking at the great planes 27% Cap 232 12.5-14lb plane. I have read and heard that you need a 2:1 power to weight ratio for you engine. This means that I would need an engine that produces 28 lbs of thrust. that size of engine would not fit on to this size of plane. is it true that you need a 2:1 power to weight ratio for true 3D manuvers? Please help me resolve my quandry. thanks |
RE: power to weight problems
For 3d you actually don't need 2:1. We really only need 1.5:1 for hovering and pull outs. If your cap is in this range of 14-15 pounds then a saito 220 would work good for it. Or if you want to go into gas you could run a DA-150 for crazy power.
Sorry to reply so short as I'm at work as we speak. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Andrew |
