Typhoon 3d-How Good?
Ok, I'm seriously considering getting the typhoon as a second plane becasue I want to get into some 3-d flying. And I was wondering if this is a pretty decent plane compared to some of the other smaller 3-d planes. If it's as good as some people say it is, then hey, I got no problem buying it. But I just don't want to be known as the kid who only buy's the RTF parkzone planes (I already own a J-3 Cub) unless this is a really rock solid, great plane to buy. What do you people think about this?

RE: Typhoon 3d-How Good?
As a park flyer type 3d they're pretty good. My son has one and he can do Prop hangs, Harriers, Rolling Circuits etc with it as well as he can with the 0.46 sized glow planes. They are still made of foam though and will break when disastrous landings happen. At least the spare parts are readily available.

RE: Typhoon 3d-How Good?
Sorry, Gentlemen but I HAVE NOT liked mine... Mine will only hover the first 30 seconds... Mixing wont work at all.... Battery plugs wear out VERY FAST, loose all power in flight.. MANY CRASHES , mainly mechanical... ONE GOOD POINT... IT CAN TAKE A BEATING AND STILL FLY...;) |

RE: Typhoon 3d-How Good?
I have heard that the servos in them are really bad a strip alot causing many people to crash.
I suggest you move up to a nitro trianer. There are several rtf 40-46 trianers out there. |
RE: Typhoon 3d-How Good?
I have a friend who flys in pattern contests and flys a mini-Funtana at lunch time for practice. He seems to like it a lot.

RE: Typhoon 3d-How Good?
The Typhoon is OK. I fly mine with the stock electronics, but with a Spektrum RX and TX and a 2100 3s Lipo. It will hover, harrier, and all the basic 3d stuff. However, it is very imprecise, and pulls hard on knife edge, and with the high wing loading, it is not a floaty plane at all. If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't buy it, I'd put my money elsewhere. THe Mini Funtana is better, a very nice flyer, but is better at precision flying than 3d.
