Which 3D aircraft
I am trying to decide on which 3D aircraft to buy. I have a Great Planes Venus 40 for pattern and a Dave Patrick Ultimate 40 for some aerobatic flight as well as several scale planes and warbirds. After 900 flights I want to get into some 3D flying.
So I'm listing my options for your vote. ;) Thanks for your response. Tom |
RE: Which 3D aircraft
I would say either the Edge or the Mayhem would do nicely. The Mayhem is probably one of the best beginner 3D planes out there. The Twist would not even be on my list, yuk. [:'(]

You are going to so not want to hear this, however you want a profile. Sounds like you have plenty of birds to look at, so ynot go with a performance 3D plane.
Go Mojo and free your mind. |

RE: Which 3D aircraft
You win the right to buy, build or otherwise (legally) obtain as many planes as you like in whatever style you like, then fly them how you like!!
I wish I was back in Tx, I haven't seen a MoJo the whole time I've been here. - I did buy a locally made electric equivalent yesterday though - can't wait to fly it later this week - it'll be my first flights since getting here 6 weeks ago |

RE: Which 3D aircraft
As of today I have a new wrinkle in this decision. I lost the Venus today.[&o] I literally lost it in the sky,[:o] overcast,
and it crashed about 500 yards from the field. That's the second Venus 40 in a month. [:@] I do not plan to replace it right now so the Edge has the advantage. I can do some pattern type flying as well as some acrobatic and basic 3D flying. So the parameters have changed. Thanks for your response and help.[&o] Tom |

Go Phat, Go Profile. Mojo would be a good start.

If you need pattern AND 3D, then the decision is obvious: OMP FUSION (90 size -- bigger is better)
Zero pitch or roll coupling with yaw input. < 7.5 lbs all up weight. Possibly the best looking profile ever designed. Removable wings. I've been flying my Fusion ARF for over 3 weeks now, and I still think about flying it every waking moment I'm not getting paid to think about something else. If that isn't love, then I don't know what is. http://ohiomodelplanes.com/67fusionarf/ |

4th....
I have been flying RC for over 20 years now and after my first 2 flights last night with my Fusion I have to say this is my favaorite plane ever. I have always wanted to fly pattern and love 3D. This appears to do it all! Steve |

You'd have to look a LONG time to find a better all-around plane than the 90 size Fusion. The 40 is lacking somewhat, but still a pretty darn good plane. But the 90 size one will blow you away with its abilities. This plane will do it all, and do it all very well. Some designs are excellent patter, but OK 3D. Others are excellent 3D, and OK pattern. The Fusion is excellent at both. Fusions are like crack. One flight and you're hooked! |
RE: Which 3D aircraft
6th Just for the fact its from OMP I would recomend it also look at the Katana V2, another favorite for learning 3D.
