90 sized 3D kit?
I like building kits and I'm looking for a winter project. Are there any 90 sized 3D fuselage kits out there? I already have several profiles, really looking for a fuse plane. I'm thinking of Saito 125 for power.
Thanks. |

OMP Fusion--It's a profile, but the best 90 size 3D plane hands down. I have a 125 Saito on mine and it weights 7- 4 oz. I built it in less than 2 weeks. Had a chance to move to a AM 30% but after flying it I stuck with the Fusion.

I built a Midwest Lil Cap 232 about 5 years ago, lightened it extensively. The fuselage is way overbuilt so I made some modifications there and swapped out some lighter wood in the wing. Weighed 6 lbs 14 oz. Initially powered w/ Saito 91, then YS 91. It flew better w/ the Saito so that was in it the when it was sold (could only fit 3 planes into my truck when I moved from California, sorry to see it go). It has the control surface size to perform 3D well, and it is a decent size, but not too big. Attached is a pic. The canopy was painted due to that area being gutted.

Top view. All the control surfaces were double beveled. First picture shows dual elevator servos. Later changed out to the large MK elevator bell crank. Took some work but it would deflect 50 degrees. You could possibly lengthen the ailerons, but it flew fine as is. Locked into harriers and elevators. Plane designed by Mike McConville. Saito 125 would be ballistic in it.

Great Planes Extra 300s 60. Never built one, but you asked for suggestions.
