Profliles, which one to choose
 

There are so many different kinds, yet they all look the same and are priced differently

I am considering using one with either a 46 two stroke or a larger one with a st 90
Which ARF is the way to go. What is the best bang for your buck.

I also am doing this chem project at school and my idea would involve using a nitro engines. What a perfect excuse to get a new engine. So, what would be the cheapest 46-53 that would fly a 40 size profile. I was looking at the TT 46. Any cheaper engines in the same department. I fly all OS at the moment but the budget for this new plane is 400 out the door.

I might be able to get an extra 100-150 for a 60-90 size profile

rite now the EF 540 edge for 109.00 is about the best deal going on a ARF, i can't tell you how they fly becuse i just bought one myself,i just could not past one up for that price, from all reports are good about it,if it flies as good as a mojo i'll be glad.

Two good choices going today.

The Mojo is what the more hard core profile pilots are going for.

There is a new one on the market, the Zero G that is a very good performer.

If this is your 1st, go with the Zero G. Once you have a decent grasp on the ZG, take all the same gear and go to a Mojo next. That may be the best 2 step combo in 3D today.

If you do a 2 stroke, any 45-53 would work great. Depending on the exact motor you will swing a APC 11.5-4 or a APC 12.25-3.75 prop.

If you go stroker, Satio 82 will free your mind.

Flown them all, these two will get you going in the right direction, quickly.

best profile deal right now is the EF Edge---I've been flying one for 2 years. Construction is out of sight, flying characteristics are just terrific. I'm flying mine with an OS 45AX, but a YS 63 or a Saito 72 would be the cat's meow. Anyway, right now EF is selling this ARF for $109---I paid $149 for mine. For $109, it's a downright steal......WarpedWing

I agree thats a great deal..I dont have one in fact I have 2 more planes than I do engines right now but at that price I might even grab one.

Wrong.

I may have been the #1 person bashing the ZG. The first one I flew, was a POS didn't fly well at all.

The dude made MAJOR changes to the plane.

Fly the current generation and it ROCKS! I know I posted something about it weeks ago. In fact, I made an unfair assesment of another bird in the same thread, that created a ruckus. My personal statement has zero to do with who sells what airplane.

I can see how you would make such a statement, however you are incorrect in this one.

The Fusion would be a goody with that ST90, however the 400 budget won't happen.

One the ZG or the Mojo, regular servos do great, no need for crazy high torque/high speed servos. Regular servos on 6V will do just fine in these birds.

I have been lookung at the EF edge but, being on a 16 year olds budget, don't have the 100 dollars to get one at the moment. I hope it is up for a few more weeks, i might be able to get one. At the end of the day this will probabley be a X-mas present, but i always try to pick the plane out in advance.

Also i can't find the zero G on the net, who is the retailer?

My son Zane (9) is going to start rigging it out for me this week so it should be ready for the NashBro.

Don't have a Satio 82, so I guess the OS 91 stroker is gonna have to go on the nose.

The Z-G looks like a solid price. Escpecially because i can't affor the ef edge right now

If you cannot afford 109 for the EF Edge then you have a problem because that is the cheapest ARF out there.

These are all good choices and we have never had so many choices before in the profile world. If two piece wings are attractive to you then check out the Katanas and Fusions from OMP. Katanas are more the bigginner to intermediate skill levels. The Fusions are for advanced pilots!

Money comes a goes when your 16. It is kind of funny, because i got into the most expensive hobby. I like to carefully choose my engines, planes, and radio gear so i can get the best deal.

I have spent alot of money on my helicopter and it is going to take me more than a couple weeks to afford one of these planes. I just want a number to shoot at and unfortunatley i think that by the time i am in the market for one the ef edge will be back up to 150. I will probabley still get one anyways.
What i have moved on to is a solid priced engine that will do the job well. Between the tt46 and the magnum 52, what do you think would be better for a 40 size profile.

Also, what do you guys think of the hanger 9 profile that is out. I forget its name but i think it is a 46 size. I have heard good and bad things about.

Cheers guys, engine is a west 50T1, throttle pipe and 13x4w prop. A few flights later i fractured the manifold on the pipe and lost it (was at about 500 feet at the time waiting for the engine to die to do a gide in landing). The engien was on its way out, needed new piston liner and bearings, it had no compression and the power was way down. Havent flown it since[:o] great great plane!

:)I just purchased a OMP Fusion 90 size. I'm starting the build tonight. I'm gonna use a YS 110 for and engine. Looks like it'll be a fun plane.

I'll do a report on it when I get a chance to fly it. This is my first profile plane. I've certainly heard a lot about them and I'm anxious to find out what they are like.

At first glance this plane seems very much like my UCD60. I've heard profiles are supposed to be a lot lighter but this seems the same. About 7.5lbs. Dimensions are about the same also. Anyways, I'll get it together soon and do some reports.

Sledge kicks ***** still. Not as easy as a mojo to look good with.
But its still the original harrier king. Morris hobbies has them.

Cambo if you are into kit building then buy a Sledge, it's a real good winter project. If you have a .46 it will fit right in and fly it great.

I have been concidering biulding a kit. I have been in the past scared of it but as i have biult more and more arfs i feel more and more confident. Plus, i would assume that profiles are easy kits to biuld. How about a list of good kits.
