I'm looking at getting a 3D aircraft but wasn't sure what choice to make. I've been practicing for quite some time on the sim flying 3D. I want something that can handle wind, somewhat tough and can perform well. I have been looking at some 40 sized ones. I've heard lots of people talk about the Mojo that it was really great so that’s the on I’ve been looking at. I'm still a learning 3D pilot so I was wondering what you guys thought of the Mojo as a plane I could continue learning on, or other suggestions on profiles that I could practice with. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks

There are a lot of people who stick their nose up to a profile. They want a "good" 40 size 3D plane, but refuse to buy a profile. You are certainly going about it with the right tools (Mojo). It will make 3D much easier than any non-profile plane up to about 50cc. There are some profiles that are "looser", when you really want to get jiggie but none any better than the MOJO for what you are looking for.

I too have been looking for my first 3D plane and whilst I still haven't decided on which one to get, I can offer a couple of other profile suggestions besides the Mojo, all in the 40 size, and so I've read, all quite good.

Extreme Flight Edge 540T Profile FunFly
TMPro Katana V2 46
TMPro Extra 260 Profile

After talking with the TMPro guys (nice blokes, very friendly and helpful) they suggested that for learning 3D, the Katana is the best one to start with as it flies nice and slow whereas the Extra260 is better as a freestyle type plane, that is, pattern/3D, because it has a slightly thinner wing and so is a bit quicker.

Hey the Mojo is an awesome plane from what I've read on the forums! No need for anyone to suggest anything else. The reason I say that is once you've gotten a Mojo going you'll very soon after want to own all the profiles on the market today. :) You are definitely on the right track to 3D paradise.

I would suggest the Mojo for learing. It's *very* forgiving and (most importantly) it's tough as hell.

A crash that would re-kit a Katana can often leave a Mojo virtually unscathed.

A profile (or any plane) that's been repaired too often becomes heavy and harder to 3D properly -- go with the Mojo, you won't be disappointed.

Between myself and my 2 sons all learning to fly at the same time (I was re-learning on a different mode after a 10+ year break) we have flown (and broken many of) a lot of planes - I had a MoJo for a while but sold it when I moved to a different country - I gave it hell and never managed to break it. I was so impressed that I have just ordered 3 more and paid the cost of sending them literally 1/2 way around the world. - this is only the second time that I have bought the same plane twice (Out of a total of over 65 planes). That's how impressed I was with my other one (and I never even used to like profiles at all).

go with the mojo,i have the EF edge,Bad Boy profiles,the one that goes to the field every time is the mojo,i like the way it flies IMO better than the others i have and it is tuff as hell,the Bad Boy flies real nice,i like it just not as tuff as the mojo,last time i was flying the mojo a guy at the field turn his radio on that was on the same channel,the mojo went in doing a spiral dive like a lawn dart sticking stait up, all the damage was the leading edge of one wing, thats it completely repairable.

Thanks guys. The Mojo sounds pretty awesome. Since I'm learing 3D can the rates be turned down enough so that it's pretty stable?

the suguested low rate is a real p u s s ycat.
this plane has no bad habbits and it will really increase your skills in a short time. dont be afraid to break it and youll have a blast.

I really like the cheap accel hobbies katanas.. They can be bought on ebay cheap.. I have a few 100cc-50cc size gassers, but I learned 3d on a 40 size profile. There is no risk hardly and much more stable. I still fly the little katana way more than any giant scale plane I got. Lots of fun. Here is a pic from yesterday..
