Prop for Saito 100

I have a U Can Do w/ Saito 100 that I bought used off of RCU. The guy that I bought it from was using a APC 14x4w prop. I haven't run it yet but this doesn't seem like near enough prop as guys run 13x6's on Saito .72's. What prop would you recommend for the Saito 100 on the U Can for the best overall performance. Thanks in advance,

Heliplane

Lots of guys are using an APC 15 x 6 prop with good success with the Saito 100/U-Can-Do. I have both 15 x 6 and 16 x 4W but haven't flown them yet...too much snow and cold here for flying a new plane and engine.

16x4W APC?

where do you get a 16x4W? I went out to APC's webbsite and could not find it?

I got my APC 16 x 4W from the LHS (Local Hobby Shop). The shop owner got if from Horizion Hobby Supply.

APC 16x4W

I found it on APC's webbsite. If you log on to their webbsite and go to prop list it does not list it there but if you go to the on line store it shows it. Thanks for all of your replys! So I guess you guys would agree then that the 14x4W that was being used on the Saito 100 was not near enough prop?

I certainly agree a 14 x 4 isn't enough prop for the Saito 100 and could probably overspeed the engine. You could use a 15 x 4W with throttle management.

I think he said for best overall performance. I use a 15x6 APC. This gives a good top speed, but plenty of stump pulling power. I get between 9500-9800 RPM static.

If you want to torque roll and hover the 16-4W APC prop is the one. If you want to fly basic stunts and pattern type flying try something else.

According to the ad in RCU the motor only has had 12 flights on it. Everything appears to be ok. It still has good compression and feels smooth. Would you guys suggest adjusting the valve tolerances after it has been run with this prop or do you think that since it was a short number of flights it will be ok?
