YS110...HELP PLEASE
I have a ys110 mounted in my showtime 90 and i have a question about the engine. When i started it up for the first time yesterday it didnt seem to run right. I opened the high speed needle valve to the recomended staring point of 1 and 1/2 turns and i got it running but not very smoothly. it has an apc 16 x 6 prop, a os type F plug and running cool power 15% heli. I got it running it would run great around 1/3 throttle but as soon as i moved it up near half throttle, it quit. Does this mean it is too rich and suffocating itself on the high end? im scared to lean it out much because i don't want to ruin it. I anyone has had this engine please share your experience or suggestions about what i should do. |
RE: YS110...HELP PLEASE
Is there an abundance of smoke coming out of the exhaust during transition?

RE: YS110...HELP PLEASE
:)I would say you are almost certainly to lean. Adjust the high speed jet to 2 turns out. That will be a good place to start. Also, you need to bump up the fuel and oil content to a minimum of 20/20. Cool Power 30% with 22% oil content is the best. It'll never run "real good" until you go to the higher nitro.
Thanks Barry |

Thanks for the help guys ill try again soon and see if that helps |
RE: YS110...HELP PLEASE
It might be too lean, like Barry says, 2 turns is good, mine is set at about 1 3/4 turns. With 15% CP heli, the performance is mediocre only when turning a 16x6. I ran that set up on my WM Super Chipmunk whoch is <8 lbs and it was not impressive. With 25% CP heli the engine really comes alive.

RE: YS110...HELP PLEASE
I know this seems obvious. But what you are describing is that you have the lines on the engine backwards. It will run on the low end but it will not run on top. Go back and check your engine against the diagram. Also make sure your check valve is on the right line and going the right direction. There is no magic to get a YS to run right. If the engine is in good working order they are very simple and very forgiving on the needles. 1.5 turns out on the highspeed, flush on the regulator, and 1.5 out on the lowspeed. Remember the low speed is opposite of other engines. Turning the needle in rich-ens the mixture, out leans it. regulator and high speed are normal.
