It would be good if you wanted a boat anchor, I wanted to go gas to but ended up with a Moki 1.80 and very happy with it.

no g45 is good for 3d

I would stongly suggest NOT putting a g45 on that plane. Its way to heavy 5.1lbs. You need to watch the wing loading on that plane close or it will be real snap happy.
I would put a moki 1.8 on the nose, but if you wanted gas, put a BME 50 or a 3w 50. these are very light for gas engines. the BME weighs about the same as the moki 2.10. The moki 2.10 weighs about 3 lbs and has more power than the g62.
you can do what you want, Its your money but I dont think you will be happy with a g-45 on that plane.
Zenoah is more for scale birds....

My 3 cents,
Shane

I have....

I have a BME44 on my H9 edge 540, and although there is power for miles, the plane is quite heavy.

I wouldn't do it again....

I have a saito 180 on mine and run 30% glow fuel and it 3-ds pretty good. has plenty of vertical. but sine you want a gasser the biggest engine i would put on it would be a brisson 2.4 or a BME 44. both weigh less than 2.75 lbs and both have almost 4.5 hp. I recommend the brisson because it is about 50 buck cheaper. The G45 weighs almost 4.5 pounds and only has 3 hp. The Zenoah's are good, reliable, economical engines, but their power to weight ratio is very low. plus you need to keep this plane below 13.5 pounds, maybe even below 13 lbs. just dont fly wide open everywhere or youwill literally fly the wings off the plane. besides that this is a very good airplane

Oh the Moki does have more power than the G62. actuall the moki is rated at 4.95 hp and the G62 is 4.75

Well....

With the BME44, you need to install the servos in the tail, or you'll end up adding quite a bit of weight in the tail for balance.

My h9 with the BME44 weighs 14.0lbs dry as a result.....I don't recommend this combo....

The BME turns a 20X10 quite fast, and is NOT needed for this plane....the post below this one talks about the G62 turning a 22X10....This size motor (assuming the data accurate) is NOT necessary for this plane...

Remember that the recommended engine is a Saito 180, an engine that turns 17X8 props.

The moki swings a 20x8. The G-62 swings a 22x10. When will people stop listening to HP ratings and start looking at actual performance?

Try any of the light 40cc class electronic ignition engines
Your elevation will give you varying results!

ZDZ 40 or new ZDZ 50

The best gas engine power to weight ratio wise, is the ZDZ 40 or ZDZ 50 in its class. The ZDZ 40 weighs less than the G62 with more power. I am now assembling the H9 Edge 540 as well and have done all the research as far using a gasser in this aerobat. One very popular pilot Dick Hanson http://www.rcfaq.com/reviews/h9Edge.htm also did this and was able to get this plane/engine combo to come in under the recommended weight of 13 lbs. I bought the ZDZ 40 but since the ZDZ 50 came out weighing only 3-4 oz more with almost 1 hp more that the 40, I sold the 40 and ordered the new ZDZ 50. I am also using the HI-Tec digital servos and doing some mods like Dick did. PS The ZDZ 40 swings a 20X10 prop around 7000 rpm and the ZDZ 50 swings a 22X12 around the same. This will have you hovering the Edge at 1/4 throttle.

Good luck.

You forgot to mention that Dick Hanson also say's he does not recomend that combo(or any gas engine for that plane)).That plane simply was not built for a gas engine Period! We switched from a Brison 2.4 to an OS 1.60 on ours and the combo is awesome. The difference was unbelievable. The Moki 1.8 is also a good choice.Like they said it's your money, but if you want to 3D this plane, glow is the way to go.

Gas -vs-Glow

I debated this for about two months until I finally contacted the Hanger 9 engineers and they did not recommend a gas engine for this plane!! I have an 0S 1.60 on mine and it has unreal power!!! I'm very happy!! :D
