Whats the best way to get my SE to hover? I have a TT 46 pro with 11x6 prop. Is that the right stuff or do need a different setup.

You're on the right track. Change to a 12.25 x 3.75 APC prop though. Check the balance point and move it to the rear of the CG range as shown on the plans. Balance the wing laterally (this is missed most often and makes the plane a lot harder to hover as it makes it fall off to the side). Set the control throws to 45 degrees throw in both directions for elevator and rudder. Use about 50% expo to start. Some use even more however this works well for me. The SE used as my avitar has over 300 flights and currently has an Irvine 53 which makes it easier to hover. The 46 used originally would have performed better had the prop mentioned above available.

Everything that EXCAP232 said and maybe take a 12x4 prop with you as well. Some 46's wont quite spool up the APC 12.25x3.75....mine wouldnt. Especially if your running a stock muffler.

Now if you wanna develop better power and throttle response....and I mean alot better of both.....invest $25.00 and an hours time in a mousse can pipe. Crisp throttle response is one of the biggest keys to successful hovering.

I have stock landing gear would I probably need bigger gear for the 12x4. What is this mousse can pipe all about. Where can I get it at.

I would agree with tailspnr in regards to the prop and the muffler.

I thought the 12x4 was the best all around prop with the TT46pro on my SE. Make sure you have a reward CG.

Those moussecan mufflers make some good power and will help your TT46. Another option to the mousse can is to buy the muffler that comes with the Tower Hobbies 46 engine. You can get it for $15.99 and you'll probably increase your rpm's anywhere from 300-700. The Tower muffler fits perfectly on TT and OS 46 sized engines.

Just max out your throws and move the CG back like mentioned above. I can't stand the 12.25 or even 12 inch props for the Pro .46 and I think it's too big for decent throttle reponse, which is much more important than pure thrust. Try an 11.5.4 APC...The 11x5 or 11x4 are also great choices.

The Tower Hobbes muffler is a good thing to try. Best $13 I ever spent! :)

I put a K&B 61 on mine to get it to tork :D and the plane only weighted 5 lbs(total)! 12x4 is a good way to go for a prop if the 12.25x3.75 doesnt work. Ive had good luck with the Tornado 12x4's. When you get them, they have plastic crap all over them that you need to sand off, but after you do that and balance them, they work great. I never got to try the APC on any of my 46's, but give it a try.

I think this is so funny I see this all the time on here WHAT'S THE BEST PROP well I think everyone that gave you between 12.250x3.750 & 11x4 is right it just depends on where you live.
Now that you now what's working here and there go spend $20.00 in props and see what works for you--you will know right away what works for you when you find it

Almost forgot I think the worst prop I ever tried was a 11x6 and the best was a 12x4 or 12.250x3.750 but thats here in Indiana and that's on a tt.46

Hey will I need bigger landing gear if I get the 12x4 prop or will the standard gear be ok?

I used a 12.5 inch on my Saito .56 on a Somethin' Extra and there was just enough room to fly it from a grass runway. Funny thing was, anytime the tail wheel would come off the engine would stop because it was hitting the grass. Anything other than a perfect 3 pointer killed it too...Sure taught me how to land the thing!

A 12.25 inch is better and there should not be any problem with a 12 inch.

One thing that really got me initially was the wing rocking. My SE was pretty bad with this. I was constantly correcting for it, and one day realized I wasn't putting the inputs in as much as I used to. Turned out (at least with my plane, comments guys?) that although the wings rock, it's a stable condition, and if you've got the kajones for it, no correction is required, it'll correct itself. All SE's are not equal, and your mileage may vary, but wrth checking out at a safe altitude. Another thing: the CG on these can be moved WAAAAYY back, 3" aft of spar is a lot of fun (just tame your elevator down a bunch on low rates). :-)

I agree on the CG. Its way too conservative at the specified location.

The wing rocking can be stopped for a little bit if you anticipate it and correct it before you see the plane do it.
Once you see the plane do it the correction you make is already too late. As RSands said, "it'll correct itself" is basically true. It will correct itself when it rocks the other way. If you can get the input in right before it starts you'll see that for a few seconds the wings wont rock at all. Eventually, it will start again but if you can feel it before it does it, you can extend that time when they are not rocking at all.

Setting up your mix to reflex your ailerons up with up elevator will stop the wing rock and make Harriers look a lot better.
