UCD 60 as a second plane?

Hello all...

What you think of a GP UCD60 as a second plane? also want a YS110 in it.
Is this a real stupid idea or is it ok if I`ll take it easy ?

Thanks

RE: UCD 60 as a second plane?

Marcus:

I have had this setup for the past two years. The airplane is still in good condition after frequent use during this period. I did tear the landing gear out of it once on a rough dead stick landing (out of fuel), other than that, the structure has been solid. the UCD 60 is a much better flyer than the 40, may be that it flys on the wing rather than angle of attack as many do. The engine combo is very good, actually more power than needed, but power is good for those pilots that do not have the god like skills of QQ, Chip Hyde, etc. Hover is less than 1/2 throttle!!! After a year, I am finally getting rolling circles to look like rolling circles. Suspect it may be longer to feel confident two or three feet from mother earth. The YS 110 is as strong as the older YS 120 IMHO, has been running flawless for the past two years on 15%. Power Master 15% seems to work well on all my 4 and 2 stroke engines with no problem. No 5%, 10%, !5% and 20/20% for various engines around here, If they dont like 15%, they go on the sell-um block. I realize the YS engines like 20-30% nitro fules better and they run better on them. With very little effort and care, they will also run well on 15%. I currently have two, a 63 and 110 that are gong on three years of age, both still run strong and have had no problems with them. I did replace the pump diaprams in both after around 2 years after reading of some problems with the pump needles as a percaution. My fuel tank is up in the canopy area, located there after the accident. Now I do a occasional low close fly by and can see the amount of fuel left in the tank. Location is not a problem with the YS pump system.

Stay away from the Funtana as a second plane. The UCD is a great flier but it is fragile as well.

The UCD is a great second airplane, it flies like a trainer but is also very good for learning 3D. I didn't find my UCD to be fragile, I put around 200 flights on mine then sold it. The new owner has lots more flights on it and it still looks great.

I suppose I should qualify that. It flies great and is not fragile in the air but it won't stand up to much abuse with the terra-firma. Rough landings, stalls from hovers down low, etc.
