Summary on reactor ep/gp 50size?
I am wondering if I should go for this reactor for my hotdog 3d plane.
There has been a lot of threads discussing this and that on that plane. Cant you reactor guys just make a summary here to say what is good and what is bad, any "nessessary" changes and all up weight in kg? And what is the smallest engine(2 and 4stroke) that can be used on it? is it possible to make rising inverted flatspin that is TIGHT?? Or is there other planes more suited for 3d after you have flown it for a while that you would rather reccommend? Thanks. Austis. |

Well, I don't think that I will buy another one. I like to fly it and I've got it set up great now but the covering on it is terrible. It might work good with electric power but the 4 stroker I have on mine puts so much oil on it and it's soaking into the covering and ruining it. Also the covering seems to be kind of layered. There is a top clear covering over the colored covering and it peels off. Maybe a 2 stroke will be better for it. Also many people have had problems with the landing gear causing it to nose over. I modified mine to accept a set of gear from a U Can Do and it works great now. Bottom line for me is that I won't buy another one since the covering is so bad.

The bottom line for me is that my Reactor is my current favourite 3D plane, and I have owned/flown a lot of them. Also currently in my hanger is a Showtime 90 and a Somenzini Yak 72". Obviously the Yak has some advantages over the Reactor, but I enjoy flying the Reactor more and I can do more with it.
As for the covering, it looks great, but there is a problem with it. The colour layer does tend to separate from the clear layer, so some maintenance with ca glue is necessary. But the covering rarely sags, and after almost 100 flights on my Reactor it looks as good as new. I would say I've spent approximately an hour or two maintaining the covering. As for the landing gear issue, it's a non issue. Just reverse the gear if you fly off grass. If Great Planes makes a larger size Reactor I will buy it, provided I can fit it in my apartment (less than 50 cc size). Malcolm |

I wonder if it is covered by TP enokote and not the monokote that they claim
The cheaper enekote tends to do that. |

It's a good plane if you don't mind a short life for it. The covering is the bigest issue.I see mine separating more everytime I fly it.I certainly would not buy another one.
