I just odered it and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them. I guess they were Epic from what ive read from earlier threads. Thanks guys.

In short, very good airplanes, excellent customer service. Tough, unconventional designs. I was impresed by their material quality. No cotton wood or bad quality ply here and the glue joints great. If anything, a little over built, but that does not seem to interfere with performance. I was a bit skeptical about their low temp covering but apart from a few nicks from the abuse, mine has held up longer and better than most regular monokote type coverings on the field. I would recommend them.

What engine/servos did you use, ?? and did you add weight anywhere??

Have actually owned both their 58 and 66 inch Extras. Used an OS 60 for the smaller one and Super Tigrer G75 (and later YS91) for the bigger one. Standard servos on both. The larger one did require a little bit of weight in front. Mount your engine as far ahead as possible as the cowling permits. Both are excellent flyers as far as my skills permit. Havent tried hovering or such but verticals are superb.

Calflyer, Ive got a YS 91FZ that I wanted to put into it, but i was concerned about wieght, and was thinking about an OS 108. The YS was a good combo??

Beavertail, I might be wrong but isnt the 1.08 much bigger and heavier than a YS 91. It flies great with a YS 91. Not hover league though but plenty vertical for me. If I am correct about my recollection of a 108, that engine may cause the airplane to be nose heavy, but again who says it cant be done.

Some times ago I read a post somewhere from a guy who had installed a 1.08 in the 66 inch version. Well I guess this guy flew it stock, no wires or fillets, without regard to the added stresses and blew his tailplane right off during a power dive or something. Now, I do think this airplane could handle a 1.08 as it is built tough but I would definately reinforce the critical parts, especially the tailplane and firewall, and take it slowly. After all the airplane is designed for only 70-90s as per their instructions. But you sure would have a rocket.

No, Its not that Im a power freak, but looking at the way it was built, I m thinking its going to be heavy. I just want it to be enough.

Nah! its not heavy, just not a minimalist piece of construction as a lot of airplanes we see these days. I think you will agree that Vectorflight airplanes are truly outstanding. They look great and fly great. You should be excellent with the YS91 or if you really want some extra punch a 90 2 stroke. I had a great time with the ST GS75. But my engine finally wore out.

Well, Im glad you said that, cause I had a 91 FX in mind. It should prove to be a good combo. What fuel did you use in your YS. Do I need to get YS 20/20. Thanks for taking the time to write, My plane wil be here this week.

I just got it in the mail. What a beautiful ARF. The quality is the best ive ever seen. Im going to order another one. The decals are already applied to the fuse, The Vert stab has a former that goes through the fuse to make sure it is strait, Man I cant put this thing into words. Got some work to do. Any questions. It took 5 days to get here, awesome.

Beavertail, definately agree with you. I honestly think vectorflight airplanes are probably one of the best I have seen. Also maybe the least known on this planet! Dont know why they dont advertise much.

I would recommend using some epoxy to beef up the firewall from the inside in case you still want to use a larger engine, and make sure the tailplane is glued strong. I only had maybe 1 degree down thrust and that seemed to work great for inverted.

Yeah, that s good advice, Ill do so next week, Im waiting on the engine. The manual could use some more info for beginners, but ill be ok with it. I love getting an airplane delivered to your door.
