I cross control...for inverted flat spin, right rudder, down elevator. a little left aileron and some throttle to help keep it flat and control the descent rate. For upright flat spin use up elevator instead of down.

Up high

Upright
1) Slow until you stall
2) bottom right (or left) corners with the sticks to start a spin
3) slide the aileron toward the other side until flat
4) add throttle as needed to increase spinning

Inverted
1) start inverted, slow to a stall
2) Full down and cross sticks to start a spin
3) slide aileron toward the other side until flat
4) add throttle as needed to increase spinning

Don't try to exit too low the first time. Not all planes come right out

My new turnbuckle and my easy sport do a regular upright flatspin better with fulldown, full rudder, and full opposite alieron, and they get really flat and spin fast. Other fun fly planes, you mostly just need full up and rudder, with a little aileron.

If you have a strong model, I find it's a lot easier to enter the flat spin blender style, rather than wait for the plane to stall. Get high, dive while rolling left, then for an inverted flat spin, get the sticks in the upper inside corners and relax throttle and ease up on the aileron as needed to flatten the spin and slow it down. Do this with something meant to handle tough 3d aerobatics.
