Mojo Plans
Hello All,
I've been intrigued by another RCU member's ideas for an amazingly light, yet strong aircraft made of 1/2" insulation foam and strengthening tubes based off of the Mojo 40. I already contacted Paul Swanson and he said it was fine for me to do. I asked him if I could be a set from him, but he informed me that he didn't sell the plans alone but that I should ask around for someone that would be willing and able to send me a copy of their Mojo 40 plane. If there's enough interest I'll start a build thread. Cool plane. Should come out at about 3 pounds with a 700sq in wing area giving it a wing loading of under 10oz/sq in. It's also pretty indestructible and extremely cheap to build. The whole plane (minus engine and radio) should come in right around $45. The best part about it is that if the epoxyglass tubes don't break, it should only take about $10 to build another one. Most of the original build cost is in paints, glues and bidirectional tape that can be used in many more than one plane. My point is this, I'd love to get some plans for the Mojo 40 so that I can start this build. Please PM me with information as I'd love to get started soon and am completely serious. |
RE: Mojo Plans
This would be called a Brawler BTW. Good flying planes.:D

RE: Mojo Plans
I hope that it flies well. But, c'mon, it's a plane based on a mojo that weighs pounds. It's gotta be good:). Thanks for the info on the name.

RE: Mojo Plans
Mojo Combat plane:D I'll be talking with Paul tomarrow, if approved by him I'll pm you for shipping details..
I really think you should support Paul the designer of the Mojo and buy a 40 Kit, You will have your wing, tube, surfaces and motor mount and it's cheap enough. |
RE: Mojo Plans
I definitely will buy a Mojo kit soon, but with college RIGHT around the corner, my parents aren't wanting to let me start another plane. The first year, at least, I'm going to be in a dorm without enough room to store my planes, much less FIX them when I land a little rougher than usual...so I don't think I'll be flying often at ALL. After the first year or so, when I get an apartment, I'll have room for a plane. I've suggested Mojo's to many people, as so many often do, but I'm trying to support Paul as much as I can, within my means:D. Paul has very famous and well-renown products...so I'm sure my one purchase won't do much (but I'm still trying to give it to him :))
The difference between the foamy plane and the Mojo kit, in my parents eyes, is that the brawler is an act of creativity and is WAY cheaper and it's much better. Again, that's their perspective. Had I my choice, I'd have bought the Mojo kit and just flown it. Thank you for your response though, I am surprised that with as many Mojo's as there appear to be that there weren't more people posting offers. Also, I'd like to thank you for also having the respect for Paul to ask him yourself. If he says it's not okay with him, then I'll ask the moderators to remove my threads and refuse all other offers. It's not often that a man in today's world has the respect to ask for something like that, and I truly am glad you did. That's precisely why I asked him. |
RE: Mojo Plans
I just heard about these mojo planes, they sound like a great plane, I found a new in the box arf for sale on rcu and I bought it not knowing that you can not get the arf any more. I guess I got lucky that I found it when I did, I bought a new os 55 for this plane. Does any one know if this will be a good match-up, I hope so.

Yes good match up a saito would be a bit lighter , but that 55 will be pleanty of power;)
Victor PM me details I'll see if I can find a old plan;) If not I'll ask a couple of friends tomarrow,. Paul said no problem sorry for the delay getting back to ya. I have one I'm flying I'd sell Local only, If someone really wants a arf. I don't mind building:D |
RE: Mojo Plans
Y'know what? I crashed my Tribute today (nothing bad, fixable in no time), but I've kind of stopped liking 3D as much as scale flying. I've got a 60-size Thunderbolt that I love to fly around, and it's so rewarding to fly it around all scale-like. I've been offered a Pulse for nothing, just a smooth aerobatic plane. I think I'm going to get that. I've crashed so many planes doing 3D, and I don't even get that warm fuzzy feeling inside that I used to get. Oh well. I know it sounds weird, but I've changed my mind about the whole thing. I just don't feel like 3D is worth it at the moment, I can only have two planes and can't spend any $ to buy a new one every couple weeks. Sorry for your trouble....but thanks anyway. Maybe someone will see this thread and be inspired to build a Brawler, but it's not for me right now.

RE: Mojo Plans
Could one of you MOJO 40 pilots give me the ideal CG on a Mojo 40, I just built & I want to set it up right before her maiden flight. Thanx!! Steve.

RE: Mojo Plans
Start about 5.25 back from the leading edge. It's really personal preference but the range on a Mojo is really huge so you can move it around to suit your flying style.
