Still choosing the next plane!
 

It seems like it's taking forever for me to choose the next plane I want. I thought I'd throw out another questionare for you guys. What would be you're choice for my Magnum 70 4-stroke.

-Nitromodels Extra 260 http://www.nitroplanes.com/niex26050533.html
-Hangar 9 Twist 40 3d
-GreatPlanes Reactor 3d
-Funtana 40 or 50
-Any other suggestions? (im not into profiles)

funtana 50 is out of the question, it sucks. the extra is ok but the flinton edge is perfect for a saito 100 if you want to add 15 more inches to you wingspan however yaks fly the best or sukoi in this class because of the round cowl other than that ask a friend at the field to fly is .70 - 1.00 and see what you think.

Your loss.
Give 'em a try. Modern profiles in the size your talking about will fly circles around your Twist/Reactor/Funtana.

Do you really want a 3D plane? or a sport plane?

With that motor most of your 40 size planes are going to be a little under-powered for 3d. i don't know if that is the kind of flying you like but if it is i would seriously consider a profile. i used to hate them too until i flew one. If you are looking for a good sport/mild 3d plane I would definately go with the GP reactor.

Personally, I think the little funtana's suck. The big ones are great but the little ones leave me with much to be desired... Where are you in Califonia? I have a practially new Funtana X50 I'll sell you cheap. I think I got like 30 flights on it. The thing just doesn't do it for me. Might be just the ticket for you... everybodys different. PM me if you want it.

Thanks for the offer on the Funtana, but I never really was into that. It is my last choice. I can also see the 70 being a tad underpowered for it.

So what's a good profile I can have ready to go for under $175

Try the Mojo it is probably the best. TMPRO Extra 260, TMPRO Katana V2 and the new Chinn Yak will be avaliable real soon from Extreme Flight RC. Any one of these will make a really nice profile.
I have to agree with buildflycrash you cant really beat one of the new profiles for some reall 3D fun.

Another one would be Seagull Models Harrier 3D .46 ARF. I never flew the .40 size only the bigger one. But if it foes as good as the bigger one this thing is a blast. Easy and very forgiving to fly and will float all day.

If money is an issue you may want to consider the lanier radical 330 arf. tower is selling them for 70$ right now. i flew one this weekend and it flew very well.

Maybe I should just go with a UCD 46. I also found 1 more good looking option.

I'm flying a sig mayhem 40 with a OS Fl70 and love it. It will hold a pretty nice hover with the 70, but I live at 7,000'. It's a really fun plane to fly and lands slower than my trainer. You might consider it.

I definantly second the UCD 46. I have one with a saito 72 and i love it!

profiles....profiles....profiles....profiles....pr ofiles....profiles....profiles....profiles....need i say more? the boxxer from omp is also a great profile and it is eather stick or arf. its too bad you didnt have a llittle bit bigger mill or it would open up more doors for fatties but with a 70 a profile is about all you will get to 3d well

UCD doesn't hold a candle to a Mojo 40, Primo 40, or Chinn Yakk. A Sledge will beat the pants off a UCD, and it's considered "old skool".

I LOVE my Chinn Yakk - so much so that I scratch built a second one, and have a short kit just waiting to be built.

o got a kit of the ohio model planes edge i still need to cover it but i cant wait to fly. this a 45/50 size engine you can use standerd servos and it is a cheap plane to get up and going

So I will take it that there are no fus planes out there that you can 3d on and then transfer that knowledge to a 30% or bigger. I love my profiles. EVERYONE should have one, but I am in the same boat. Would like something that is not a flat slab but still can 3d with the best of them. I have been going threw post after post trying to find something other than profiles. Not wanting to get ride of those at all. Just wanting something that is no where near the price of my gaser to throw around. Profiles fly 3d the best hands down but there has to be something out there. On a good note cant wait for the chin to be out. Looks so good that I am afraid it would be a hanger queen in my trailer. If it flies like it looks[X(]. OH put the after burners on on that dang boat that they are on and get them here.:D:D

So would 3/4 of everyone else on RCU. The other 1/4 just fly what flys best.

Cant argue at all with the way a profile flies. There is always that hope!! I have giant scale or slabes in my trailer. Would be nice though
