3d Prop
Well the subject pretty much says it all. I have an eight pound plane with a 120 size four stroke (The OS surpass III With pump). I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with a similar setup at Mile Hi denver (Where i live). I am having a hard time getting the power I want. Its going to be a 3d Plane. I have run an APC 16x6 and the vertical is pretty good. Anyone know about the APC 16x4W? I was just browsing the APC site and came across one. I thought I would ask you guys if you had any advice before I bought one. Thanks a bunch.

I use the 16x4W on my YS91 in a U Can Do. At sea level, it turns 9100 static and hovers the 7lb 9oz. plane easily. I can't say how it would be at your altitude especially with a heavier plane. If I had to guess I'd say you want more diameter. If you could find a 17 or 18x4 that would probably be the ticket.

I'm close to your altitude...4300' here in Southern New Mexico...and we've found a good starting point is to go one inch smaller on prop size than recommended (same pitch)...then start playing around from there. What kind of plane are you flying???

I am flying a GP Extra 300S 60 Size. Its a great plane, and I can torque roll, waterfall, blender, but its pretty hard with the power i should be getting but not. Too bad the difference in gravity doesnt make up the difference in air density. haha. Thanks for the tip, I think I will try a 15x6 and a 16x4w. I just am skeptical about bringing those torque rolls and hovers low because I only have about a 1/4 stick left to work with. Again, thanks for the help guys, keep them comming. I will update you guys when i do get those props, I dont think the LHS has them, so I will have to get the owner to order them.
