showtime 90 4D
 

hi guys!
i'm planing to buy a showtime 90 4D during this week.
i looked at the huge post on the showtime to find answers to my questions but i got out of there more confused then i got in, so i decided to post a new thread and ask here my questions
so here they are
1.i'v been flying 3D planes for some while but i was flying the tmpro katana 46 wich dosent require a digital or strong servo, just standart one's so i have no idea about anything regarding digital or any servo wich is not a standart one. i would be happy if you could tell my what are the recommended servo's for the showtime, according to what you used in youre showtime's and found to be the best servos to this plane. also i would be even more happy if you could explain me a little bit about each servo and why it's going where it's going(elevetor, rudder etc).

2. i have a saito 150 and i'v heard its a great combination. is it true? will i have over overpower?:Dover weight? after all it's a really big engine for the size of the showtime isn't it?

3. should i buy any other hardware execpt the one's that are supplied with the plane? is the quality of the hardware supplied with the plane sufficent?

4. what battery i should buy considering the servos that are in use 6V 2700mha will be enought?

5. is there any place you guys know about in or out of the plane that should be strenghened or anything like that?

well, i think that's all for now but i will probebly have more quistions when i'll get the plane, so be Prepared!:)

my set-up:

JR 8101 90 oz servos on all surfaces
YZ-120
2200 fromco battery
9 lbs 4 oz
17 x 6 apc 8800-9400 RPM (off memory)

check the ailerons for warpage as it quite common place

if its close in wieght to the ys 120 and any where near the power its the best set up
16/6w apc goobs of power
check motor wieght diffs.
cant be much

D B i would go with the YS 120, it will give you bags of power and it has around the same or possibly slightly more power than the saito 150 any way. As mv-warbird says a 16x6W or standard 16x6 apc would be ideal.

if you are wanting to make it a crazy 3D/freestyle machine scrap the thought of putting a 6V 2700 mah (presuming you are thinking about a nicd or nimh) battery in it, it will be way too heavy. I would go with a fromeco 2600 mah li-fe from DA, you will also have to pick up a suitable regulator to bring the voltage down to 6v, DA markets these too.

We went down this path with our funtana x 100 and replaced a 1400 mah 6V nicd with the set up above and the lithium was still lighter!!!

servo wise, Hitec 6965 digitals are perfect for extreme 3d on you ailerons, they have torque and are extremely fast. The rudder and elevator are the surfaces that are working really hard in a 3D workout and need plenty of drive, Generally i like to keep all the servos powering the tail surfaces the same so when you are doing very quick rolls in a rolling circut no servos are falling behind the other surface.

if you wan't crazy 120 oz/inch servos are a must at the back

B EXTREM, you see, the thing is that i already have a saito 150....so the ys is is out... but according to what you'v said and what mv-warbird said the saito is almost identical to the ys(has the same wight and power) so it should be just fine, right?

about the battery, id rather stay with a nicd or nimh battery, so what do you thing is the best battery for me? (assuming i will get the 6965 all around as you said)

DB the saito 150 will be a fine engine, the ys 120 is just my preference for a plane that you may spend some money on. if you were to run the 6965's all around i would be putting at least a 6v 1400mah nicd or nimh in,it is you choice on what type you use in the end OR you could put a 2600 mah lithium in and fly all day with a constant 6v powering your radio gear with the added benefit of being lighter than the nicd or nimh[X(][X(][X(][X(].

What is it you don't like about the lithiums. they are excellent!!!

well ,the thing about lithium is that it's really expensive( i mean really really expensive, to expensive for me...) and i already destroyed two lithium batterys of my electric foamy....in know its my fault but i'm still kind of afraid from this batterys....

My Showtime has a YS 110 and you 150 should be a good choice too. As for the batterys for the flight pack, I think he (EXTREM) is talking about Lithium ION type (not the Lithium Polymer) from Fromeco 2600 mAh run at 7.2 volts. I switched to the ION type 2 years ago and will never go back to Nimh’s. The ION are easer to charge (simple charger from Central Hobby) will charge the 2600 pack in less than 1 hour and will hold a charge much better than a Nimh. I also use a Radio South regulator and I do have a more powerful servo output and the Digital servos are more stable under load/idel. I also use the Fromeco 8 ball checker to keep tabs on the battery. This setup has worked better than anything I have used in the past. You can remove the packs and can use them in more than one plane so the cost can be kept down if you have more than one plane.

also 3dsky how much voltage drop does your 2600 lose under load
