aerobatic

HI

Having not flown many aerobatic planes other than the sim, would someone be able to explain the differences in flight and performance between the Extra, edge and the yak?
I am looking at getting an electric version about 1 - 1.2 meters of one of them and think i prefer the extra from the sim but i want something that is smooth to fly but quickly responcive.

Cheers

If you are newer, you may find them quite similar in performance.Once you get a taste and feel for performance, you may want to look at some differences in the airframes, but it also depends on brand and set up.
Overall the Extra has been voted to do the precision stuff best, and 3d well,so does the yak, with the Edge doing a great job at full on 3D.But as stated,it depends on company and set up,its a very loose and general observation on my part.

Rossie:

NW is right on, but gets even worse IMHO. Some sims will only give you "almost" reality. Can hardly hover any of AFPD's models on the sim, no problem with the real thing. To find a good airplane and gear, start with the 3D forum guys and read a bunch, or rely on someone you know who is a very good pilot. Some of the offerings out there are advertised as the best ever, some times they are good, most of the time just so so. Big difference between typical and good. I love te 73" QQ Yak as a example. Never snaps out, always gentle at low or no speed, agle when you want. Fly the AJ 52 Extra 330L a bunch along with a PS Katana in the smaller electric stuff. Neither is as good overall than the 40" RCX planes Yak 54 foamy. When I want just peace and fun, out comes the Foamy. ENJOY

In this size I would suggest the EFlite Extra 260.Its an all around good machine, that is affordable and user friendly.
