Twist 3D 40 size set up advice

Hey everybody,

I have a Hanger 9 Twist 3D coming to me and I am looking for any advice I can get to get it set up for 3D flying. I have been flying planes for quite a while but just recently have gotten the itch to get crazy with 3D.

I have a new O.S. .55AX for this plane and I ordered quite a assortment of props to test with. I have some Futaba Digital servos to use on the plane and a light weight batt. pack for it (3.3oz).

Any suggestions you may have to help me set the plane up to be a 3D monster will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

No real need to try a buch of props,,,,APC 12.5 X 3.75 for a 46 up to 55, guarenteed. I've owned 2 of those twists.

lithium receiver batt running a regulator, ditch the clevises and plastic hard ware that comes with it and install ball links instead...(zero slop) use fast as hell servos with tons of throw.

make sure you have all your travel adjusts at 100%....if the surfaces move to much use shorter arms...too little buy bigger ones....haveing an ATV of under 100% decreases servo resolution and accuracy. Use at least 15% nitro in your engine and keep it light as possible.

 When will people ever learn.... send it back and get a modern day profile if you want a "3D" monster cause you sure won't find it in a Twist or, just keep it and pretend that you are truly pushing the 3D envelop like most other Twist owners :D

I wanted to follow up on your comment. At first I was a little upset. I did get the Twist and set it up the best I could for flying 3D, and I thought I was doing pretty good. I could hover it and do some harriers, it did have alot of wing rock and was not very stable in a hover, but I could do it and I thought that was normal . Even though I thought I was doing pretty good I wanted to see if the Mojo would do any better. I built a Mojo 40 size last week and flew it for the first time today. The components I took out of the twist and put into the Mojo so I knew that would be a fair comparison, I set up the radio ( expo ) the same as the Twist was set at. The Mojo ballanced out pretty good as built so I didnt change anything. On the first test flight I would have never thought I would feel so comfortable with this plane. Everything I was used to doing with the Twist was SOO much easier now, and NO wing rock!!! Second flight out I was hovering with no problem, harriers were super easy. Third flight out hovers right down to 12" of the deck. AWSOME!

So I wanted to tell you that I did learn! But thinking back on it all I am happy I started with the Twist, because I do believe it helped my flying skills to fight with the Twist, and I would have never appreciated how good the Mojo is!!

Looks like I have a Yellow dust collector!!

I do appreciate your advice. Thanks.

Yes :D another convert, There really is nothing like the Mojo. I must agree fighting the twist will teach you alot, Luckly you followed the advice even if only to prove the point.

another has seen the light:D

any 40-60 size 3d planes from horizon and seagul are junk. i'll take a ragged, battle tested mojo any day over the others.
