AW 540T for first 3D plane?

My soon to be 13 year old son thinks he wants to start flying 3D. He has been flying for about a year, started with a Nexstar, now has a Tiger 60, has flown my Pulse 40 (liked it) and my Venus 40 (learning to like it) and catches on pretty quick. We have been looking at the Aero-Works 540T, and liked what he saw in the video. I think he can handle it, but will need to practice, practice, and more practice. So, I was going to install a Saito 82, but I just finished reading the long (492 posts) thread on this plane, and it seems that the 82 might be to small. But, I was wondering if I should just go ahead and install the 82 until he gets better at 3D flying, or just put a Saito 100, or OS 91 2s right out of the gate. He is at that age were I don't think he "really knows" what he wants. He likes doing nice, crisp maneuvers, or sport flying, but I am not so sure he will have the patience to learn how to hover, or any hard to do maneuvers. I can't teach him, I don't know how, 3D is not my thing. Do you guys have any recommendations? Thanks

He will need lots of power in the beginning to be able to pull out of troubble when he practices hovering down low. After he masters it, it will be less critical to have absolutely max power. I`d go with either the 91 two stroke or the 100 fourstroke.
A profile is easier to start learning 3-D on and it will take alot more punishment and small crashes than a "normal" plane.
Whatever you choose, good luck;)

Its difficult to 3D with marginal power

save your money on the plane for now and get a sim. practice on there and then look for a plane. they make a world of difference in learning new moves. (and way cheaper in the long run)

Thanks for the replys. We already have the sim, and he has been practicing. But, after looking around and doing a little more reading, we have decided on the MOJO 40 with an OS 55. Going to order the kit and engine, and do my best at some custom color scheme. Just might order two.:D
Thanks again
