ORIGINAL: sctcrash The dandelions are the beast right. We've got a fly in this coming weekend......... :D I'm taking the UCD, the Twist, and the U. Stick.......... Can't wait.....[8D] |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Ha, right now I am happy to have anything green growing on our field. We gave the field a good low cut to get rid of them. We have serious mower issues though so that was one day where the mower just wasnt working. It was a good thing the UCD has such a high clearance for you folks throwing a 14 inch prop on your 4S. My little 12 inch on my 46 had plenty of clearance.

Hi guys, How goes the 3-D wars?
I had to disable my U-Can Do for the new project. I can't afford to have a fleet ready to fly all at the same time, maybe some day. Without trying to hijack a thread, here is a quickie pic of the latest offering. Have not flown it yet, weather is the suck in Utah right now. I can't leave the thread, I still read it all the time. I am going to get the U-Can-Do back in the air soon. Tom |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
:)You disabled a UCD on purpose!?!?!?!?!?
Great looking Spitfire. Is that the Hanger 9 version? How does it fly? Do you like warbirds better than 3D? You disabled a UCD on purpose!?!?!?!?!?! Thanks, Barry |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Thats the H-9 P-40 actually.;)
Yes I disabled a U-Can-Do...on purpose. I know, I know, I suck, I'm evil and I must be killed. I am not sure if I like warbirds better, I have not had a chance to fly it yet, but I hear they fly like a sport plane. I am having some withdrawls though. I am getting another flight pack and kicking the bird back in the air as soon as I can. |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I tried the war bird thing, AT6 Texan, fun for awhile.... hi speed lo passes w/ a V roll thrown in, pull up the retracts... there you go, your whole routine in a nutshell.
|
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I don't know about diabling a UCD, and have never flown a warbird (other than a GWS Foam P-O-S) but I do like watching warbirds fly. Theres a couple of p-51s, of course, a p-40 and a corsair at the field when i fly almost every satruday. I love watching them fly - the corsair most of all.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I have a feeling you might be right. I probably should have saved a ton of money, put a better motor in the U-Can-Do and called it good. But, I will hold off saying that until I get a chance to fly this. I dolled it up a bit with on board glow but one thing I have noticed is that more complicated so far does not equal more fun. Like that took a rocket scientist to come up with.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Dont get me wrong, they are fun, esp. when you have an audiance....
|
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I disabled a UCD..... well, the ground did. [>:] I got back at it and assembled another UCD.......... I like your warbird. Have you got anymore pictures?

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Thanks!
Not yet, I am going to get some at the field Thursday weather permitting. :D Tom |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
GP version, nice ARF, flys great but I would rather have a UCD 60.....anyone want to trade?

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Liberator... Nice plane!!.... Did you say disable the UCD.... WoW
The war birds are nice and nostalgic to see in the air.. I almost got a P-40 but decided to learn the crazy stuff first:-)) Anyway Do not.... Don't.... NEVER try to land it like the UCD.... Most war birds tend to not like that:-) Now take a few shots of the whole plane so we can see it... It looks really nice... But to disable the UCD...... MMmmm Have you heard.... Make Love not War:-) |

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I must be having a brain fart. U CAN DO 3D 46 with HITEC OPTIC 6 Radio. I have the ailerons hooked up individually (ch 1&5 I think) but can't seem to figure out how to do elevators seperately to the receiver. Have them ran through a "Y" and they're working but dont I want them hooked up seperately to do things like torque rolls (operate like ailerons one up / one down)?
Can't figure out how to hook individually, as one of the channels isn't really for this as listed in the manual, or I do I need to hook up as one and "turn something on" in the programming? The Plane's description states it can be done with a 6 channel radio. I was doing this last night at midnight and don't have it in front of me right now. Think this is the way I think it goes.... Ch 1&5 Ailerons Ch 3 Throttle Ch 4 Rudder Ch 2 Elevators Ch 6 for Flaperons and ? per manual HELP |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I just ran my ailerons into a Y and hooked to the opposite side of the control horn, no need to have dual channels on that. As far as the Elevator, I went to my LHS and bought a little mixing pot connector that has an adjustment on it to even the elevator sides out. THat way there is no programming needed, U-Can-Do the programming if you prefer, but the dual servo elevator pot is only 8 bucks, works very well.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Hitec wires up the same as Futaba, normally channel 6 is other Aileron servo firstly, next some radio dont support dual elevator servo so you have to set up a PMIX to do it, bugger is sometime the trim does not work between the two channels, found out on my JR8103 using a 4 channel RX with dual aileron servos, long story[>:]
Give it a bash with the servo removed for ch5 into ch6, then try PMIX for ch 2 to ch 5, alternatively Y lead |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Just a try put alerion in 1,6 and enabel flaperon I'm running a 6exa and had same problems. Brain was lost but keep trying or like me read the manual. 2-3 times.
|
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I have finally gone through the manual and now understand how this all works. My old radio from my heli days (whick I have still been using for 2 years on my trainer) was a JR Propo 6ch pcm and I have come to the conclusion I never came close to utilizing all the "COMPUTER ASSISTANCE" these things have.
I now understand that the majority of the 3d maneuvers are capable of being performed because of the radio probably more than pilot ability. Not to take anything away from pilot ability but a lot of the things I've seen performed just would not be possible merely by stick manipulation on a "normal" setup. Still learning and enjoying it more everyday. This is a great hobby. :D |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Hey Twindaddy,
SPUD 37 here, your right to a point. In 3D you have to have a plane that is well balanced in all of the axis, this is the true key to 3D (rhymes huh). Although it is nice to have some mixes for knife edge and flat turns, the majority of 3D is the pilot & lots of practice. If you go to www.flyingcirkus.com, they have a few videos under 3D university that show that most high alpha is performed with the thumbs. Spoilers help with some maneuvers as well. So get out there and practice, practice, and more practice........:D Well guys went out in the muggy hot damp S.Fl weather today.....Got some really great flights in. Wind was down to about 3-5Knots, and steady. Playing with the mixes and just can't seem to get my knife edge dialed in. So went and practiced snaps and spins. Really flattened one out just a kick of throttle, man it was great. With the snaps on my mid D/R I brought the rudder up to 75%, & that just whips the UCD around like crazy. Grass is getting long so I had alot of shavings to clean but well worth it. Started to drizzle so had to pack it in. Not going to get much flying in for the next couple of weeks, as I am on vacation, and heading out to SC to TN to AL & back home with a stop at Mickeys place. But I'll have the lap top with my real flight to keep the thumbs in check, and also to follow the thread.;););) SPUDs on final gears three in the green............. |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
:)Spud. 3-5 knots?!?!? I thought a knot was what a Boy Scout ties. How many MPH is that?
Thanks, Barry |
