Hey not bad it only took you two tries to give that great answer ???? If you fly as good as you help people you must fun to watch. Keep your day job ..... KJA
Dude ... why don't you take a chill pill. You got your damn answer, some of us have this little thing called a sense of humor.

Geez.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

I just put together a Global Freestyle w/ a Magnum 52 XLS 2-stroke using a 12.25x3.75 prop.
It seems to have plenty of power and good vertical performance.
The Global Freestyle seems to be of the same size/weight as the U-can-do 46, so it should perform well with that engine, right?
I was also thinking of the Evolution 61 2-stroke, any thoughts?

A 2-stroke for me might be a better option for the u-can-do 46, since after reading these posts it seems like you have to put a $200+ 4-stroke to get the performance the plane was designed to do.

I am all ears :D

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

magnum 80 4 stroke. $150. thats what i got. running like a top, shoots straight out of hover like a rocket.

actually its for sale for only 265 RTF in the 3D and Funfly marketplace.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

I have put 2 stroke TT 46 pro with megic tuned pipe and I used 12X4 prop.
It works OK, The Global Freestyle seems good the plane is very light, but the vertical performance is not so good...
I think for 2 stroke 53 engine should preform ok and will shoots straight out of hover.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

Has anyone flown the UCANDO with a Saito .72 and then swapped in a .46 or .50 two stroke just to see the difference? I am contemplating doing this, I wondered if I was the first.

odrizin 11-11-2003 04:48 PM

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

YES!!!
My friend and i have the same UCD 46.
He have saito 72, I have TT 46 pro.
The main difference are:
1. 46 engine is lighter- therefore the Global Freestyle seems better.
2. 72 saito vertical performance is much better and easy to get out from danger maneuvers.

the main difference is in low speed maneuvers when you need more power from the engine you need the saito 72 or 52 two stroke.
For beginners the 46 engine is enough!!!

The two stroke engine are lighter then the 4 stroke engine. this is very important in this kind of plains.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

how is hovering with the .46?

PigMan Buggerus 11-11-2003 04:52 PM

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

Actually Saito 72 w/muffler - 16.5 ozs.
Thunder Tiger 46 w/ muffler - 17.01ozs.

hovering with the .46 can be done but I will not hover low because you may not have the power to get out of it!!!

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

Easy Hoss!

.46 sf = 13.2 oz
Mac's Pipe = 2.2 oz
total = 15.4 oz

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

I use Thunder Tiger engine 46 with mac's pipe. we call it magic pipe.
more power less oz.

well guys ... just sold my last ucando and moving on up to profiles and giants only. after 6 ucando's i would like to say "thanks" but now it's just too nimble for my blood. it was fun guys ... may your crashes be as glorious as mine were.

if you guys think the UCANDO is fun .... try the Sledge or OMP Edge. much much much more fun!

bye bye

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

OK then well it's 1 oz heavier. Not a ton. And if you aren't running the Macs pipe the Saito is lighter.

Any one have pics of a 2 stroke mounted on the U-CAN-DO?????

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

Hey guys, how about that drumming noise at higher throttle settings? (See Post 603.) I've seen and heard four different UCD 46s with OS 70 Surpass I and II engines make the noise. I guess everyone is just living with it? Being a quality control freak, I've tried to eliminate the cause. (installed wing saddle tape - it helped. ) I tried installing a 1/8 inch rubber home-made gasket behind the engine mount....and rubber washers.... and it still maked the noise. I'm considering getting some sort of soft engine mount, but I don't want the hastle of having to redo the blind nuts and engine cowl cut outs for needle valve etc. What do you guys think? It's gotta be happening to you.

What serovs are you putting in this plane. I know some have used Futaba 3004 which have only 44 in-oz of torque and seem to be doing fine. What are other using?

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

see post 607, mine sounded like someone was flipping the covering with their finger on each fire of the engine. After I recovered it, it went away and it sounds totally different.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

hell, I've got 3001's for the elevators, they do great. 3004's for the ailerons, Hitec 605BB for the rudder w/pull pull system and a 3001 for throttle. I am also using a 6V battery and a Futaba 6 channel.

ok I guess I should have said does anyone have a pic of U-CAN-DO46 with a inverted 2stoke with pics and a cowl?????

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

Thanks for the reply dynodan,

That darn drumming just bugs me.

I'm not that ambitious to recover the wing. I was hoping there's an easier cure to the drumming noise.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

This may be a stupid question, but did you shrink the covering down tight? Mine was really loose and I had to take a heat gun to mine and reshrink it all. I didn't notice the drumming sound when I flew it last time.

Gbee 11-12-2003 07:35 PM

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

Yes, thanks - I shrunk the covering using an iron (with sock) on the higest setting. I especially adhered the covering to the ribs (all 3 in each wing - probably not enough structure to absorb engine vibes). I even ironed on a couple of matching white squares of 21st Century fabric on the wing bottom, just behind the gear. I thought maybe to change the frequency or eliminate the noise - didn't help. But, this also helps keep the wheel pants from punching through the wing when you rip the gear off. Don't ask how I know.

That darn drumming. Anyone else's have this phenomena.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

I'm guessing most do it with the 4 strokes, especially big ones. I flew my maiden flight Sunday with Saito 91. Flies great, but that drumming is scary. I'm going to try to iron the covering tight and go over it with a hair drier to see if that works. Weather's so crappy here I don't know if I'll be able to post results any time soon.
