FLUTTER WITH U CAN DO
Hi guys,
I have a UCD 46 with a YS63s engine. No matter what speed [ slow/fast ] I fly at I get very bad flutter on the ailerons. I upgraded the horns , replaced the pushrods with 3mm threaded bar and also the servos from Futaba 3152 to Hi-tech 5645. Has anyone any suggestions as to solve the problem? What more can I do or am I missing something.? Thanks Damien |

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ular_smile.gifThe UCD 46 is a very noisey airplane by nature. Maybe it isn't flutter you are hearing but the "drumming" sound that naturally comes from the thick wing.

I saw one of these intentionally flown to failure this past weekend. It took several high-speeds passes, but eventually the tail surfaces parted company with the fuse and the rest is history. During the initial passes, both wing panels fluttered violently. I thought for sure they would explode, but they held up fine. It was very entertaining, to say the least. :)

Flutter Prevention:............Besides what you already have done,make sure your control surface gaps are well sealed against air passage. Monokote strips on both sides of the surface or some high quality packing tape should work.</p> |

A maximum propeller pitch of 6" is good to reduce the topspeed and prevent flutter. This plane should not be flying fast. For the YS63 on the UCD46 maybe a 4-5" pitched prop is even better? something like APC13x4w or 14x4w.</p> |

Make sure that all of your linkage is tight. Ball links on the servo arm, and locking clevis on the control surface. I use Carbon Fiber pushrods on all of my 3d planes.....super rigid and strong, plus super light! You can get the CF pushrod ends fromwww.connectorsRC.com </p> |
