On your guys 3D rates. do you put expo in it so it is soft around the center or the stick so it feels like a normal mode, or do you just leave it linear with the stick movement?

I set mine up so I can fly in 3D rate all the time.
Generally,
30 -35%

My low rates are set up much less.

OK, I was asking because on my high rates I have like 60% expo to make it tame feeling and that way I wont snap it with the elevator.

Try the expo and see if you like it for 3d, some guy's in our club swear by expo and others hate it, it's a personal thing I think but for me on my 8u -60% expo on 3d rates works for me on all of my planes, it softens the sticks near center which is what I need.

Right, that is why I use it, but when I do say a harrier I use alot of elevator, so I am in the range where it is VERY touchy, a little movement on the stick is alot of elevator on the plane, so it makes it kinda choppy in flight.

Expo is a "Feel thing"
Everyone's percentage that they are comfortable with is going to be different.

Hi John, use what works good for you, I've used as much as 80 and as low as 30 depending on the amount of throw your using. You can have too much throw in a given surface and 100% expo will not help smooth things out....think about it.....<G> Take care, Joey Hamilton

I fly with about 70% expo on high rates. I have seen some people set it as high as 85%-90% on high rates.

Hi

I usually only use "high rate" for my 3D planes, 25% expo exept for rudder that is 15%. (flying thumbs only)

I find hovering and TR hard with too much Expo...

but as I read above, expo is a "feel" thingy.. nothing right or wrong...

I have to agree with Wayne that expo is a feel thing. I lake a certain feel in a plane and when people fly may planes that say that they are nore really responsive but I have as much throw as they do it is just that I use more expo then they do.

I have a question for you guys....

In tournaments like the TOC, a pattern contest, etc.. Is stuff like expo and mixing allowed???

Please don't take this the wrong way (read that too many slams for my preference of not using expo) I was just curious, and have no experience of attending any type of contest to see for myself.

I know mixing is, pattern guys are mixing guru's. So im sure expo must be allowed also.
