3D plane size ratio
I am scratch building a 60 size (YS91) plane that will see some occasional 3-D flying with a lot of hot dog sport flying. I am interested in the planes overall size ratio. Is there a rule of thumb to the ratio of wing span versus fuselage length? (For the record what constitutes the fuselage length, spinner to rudder tip, or firewall to the end of the fuselage body)?
Thanks for your help. |
3D plane size ratio
Overall fuz length is tip to tip. Comes from the pattern guys, they have to "fit in a box of two metres".
If you look at the current manufactured kits/ARFs you will see that the ratio tends to be 1:1 or less, ie fuz is as long or longer than wing span. (I'm talking Flip 3D, Seduction Freestyle, Synergy 90 3D etc) There must be something in this ratio or they wouldn't do it. |
