very nice job
could you please explain the method you have used to apply the flames ? ( what is trim sealing ? did you used windex over night ? did you iron the edges to secure the flame to the white layer ? ) thanks |
flames
That's neat. But where did you get the template??? I can't seem to find them.

well i found two ways to do it. both are pretty difficult
the trim sealer i use is made by monokote. its called trim sealer... your local hooby store will have. its tricky with larger parts of meterial.on the back it says to apply to both the piece your installing and the area it will go. i found that just wipping it on the area you wish to apply it and then lay it on top into position.it makes a bit of a mess.the color bleeds off the monkote onto your nice white film..... not to worry though it comes off when you wipe it with the same trim solvent.its nice because it doesnt deminish the shine of the monokote..... the second is using vey low heat to apply.slowly work the area so that no bubbles form under the monokote.i found the 150 degrees F. works well.once the piece is in place raise to 175F then go over again.i then use 200f to stick the piece permantly into place.... its takes practice but man it looks sweet...let me know if theres anymore ??? the trick is over lap each peice over one another to make it seem they blend together. and 1/4 in seem doesnt show under the top layer. thank for all the great compliments guys...... hope this helps you all to have the trickest plane at your feild........ |

You can never go wrong with flames. Looks great! Ben |

pm means "Personal Message". There is a button toward the bottom of every post labeled "pm" I am guessing he left you a personal message and is just letting you know to check it.

Thanks, man! I just copied that image to my Hard Drive. I'll chop it up in Picture It and tile print it.
Then I'll have an excuse to build another plane. "I need a plane to put my flames on" hehehehehe |
