Knife Edge Spin
Could anyone explain tis manouver for me , and how to achieve it?
Thx |
Knife Edge Spin
1.Get alot of altitude
2. do a knife edge, or as the model almost stalls tip some rudder so it falls onto its side from the vertical climb 3. Give full aileron in the same direction of the rudder, which should be up if your in knife edge, and full down elevator That should make it go, to wind it up a bit put a touch of throttle in it. To exit Either let go of the controls and throttle to idle or give opposite rudder for an inverted flat spin. Then release controls to exit the flat spin The manuever can be done from a blender, or turned into a blender and back and forth:D Does that make any sense? You can watch my super sukhoi vid, I do a couple in that too, its on my prop site below. |
Knife Edge Spin
Thanks , so let me try understand.
Flying right to left i start knife edge , with left aileron ( canopy facing me ) holding with right rudder. Then add full right rudder, full right aileron and full push elevator. This correct? |
Knife Edge Spin
Well, lets say your in a knife edge flight from left to right, you will only be using left rudder to hold your altitude. Cut your throttle to idle and as it slows down keep adding left rudder to hold it in knife edge. Once it pretty much stalls, add full left aileron, full down elevator and full left rudder. It will tumble a sec then should go into the spin, give a bit of throttle to spin it up a bit.
Then the flat spin entry is simply hold all sticks where they are, and add full right rudder then slowly reduce the aileron as necessary. Hows that? |
Knife Edge Spin
Got it
Basically its the same as a blender but started from knife edge , I can do a blender , so I should be OK now, pity nobody can post each 3d manouver on video to explain them 1 by 1 Thanks John |
Knife Edge Spin
What are you flying? I cant get all my models to do it, and some may have a little different technique, but that is how my 33% and 1/4 scaler does it every time.
Once you get the tip spin mastered, then get the blender mastered, then mix the two up!! Have fun!! |
Knife Edge Spin
for this work a UCD 60 primarily
|
Knife Edge Spin
Hmm, I dont know if it will do it, but let us know!
|
Knife Edge Spin
it does do the blender pretty good so the knife edge version shouldn be a problem , I do have trouble with the waterfall but I am working on it
|
Knife Edge Spin
Oh, its not like the blender, at least I dont think it is.
Anyway, here is another thread on some manuevers http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...21#post1218060] |
Knife Edge Spin
If you have extreme aileron throw, from the "sticks-in-the-corner" position you'll often have to release just a tad of aileron until it KE spins.

Knife Edge Spin
Not on mine, but different planes will need different things:D

Knife Edge Spin
From 45* climb, I go into 3D rates and push the sticks forward and to the center, as in a Lomcevak. So that would be full down and left ail and full throttle and right rudder. As the plane slows (tumbling now) go to left rudder and back off on the throttle. It will usually start then. You can now speed it up by increasing throttle. Different planes require different amount of throws. Sometimes too much rudder will just snap-spin it.
