Default How well does a Super Xtra dead stick land?

Deadstick landing and also if take up and cut the motor just how well will it glide?

http://www.3dfoamy.com/SuperXtra.htm

After doing some research I like this one the best....I've learned how to fly on my little elec piper cub and have got it down pretty good...I also have a Hitec flash4 radio with EXP, EPA so this should work ok right?

Also any vids besides the ones on there site would be great to watch....let me know if there are any other ones out there...thanks!

Hi Ken, the plane glides fine. Your radio will work fine as well. Not sure if there are more vids out there, try doing a search, if you find some, let us know!

What's the difference in flying the Super Xtra compared to the SuperCap?

Hi, the supercap weighs the same, but has a touch more wing area, so it probably would glide a little better, but these are not gliders, they are high performance 3D aircraft. Both will satisfy anyone's need for a super strong, super flying aircraft!

Yeah I know what you mean I have .92 acre and about 150' in the backyard for a landing field...wanted something that did not take much area to land like my piper does. Guess I need to figure out which one looks best to me...only found one Vid of the Supercaps.

What do you think of this combo for either plane?

Not sure it can be radial mounted? I sent them an email.

Well, it looks like a comparable motor that should work, it looks like that one can only be mounted one way, as it is pictured..

John your right about that one....I went with this one from the same person and was able to talk them down on item price and shipping cost...I got the following....servos are going into a smaller 8oz 3D plane...not sure they will be strong enough for the Extra? 10.2oz at 4.8v...6.0v is around 12oz

One 1480 outrunner brushless motor Shaft can be mounted in either direction.
One 30 amp ESC 05AUP
Three mini servos sg-90 9 grams
All for $85.40 out the door to me.

Shows both shafts installed, can be mounted in either direction...

the specs for that motor call for:

Recommended Rotor Blade: 10x6 to 11x7 or 8.5x5 to 10x5

So, maybe a 12x4, or 11x4.7 is what Id try. Something in the recommended range.

John do you know what the two planes weigh without electronics...how much are they allowing for the RX, Servos, motor and battery? Kind of wanted to add up what I got and then decide on the battery pack to go a little bigger or smaller...

Was wondering how big I could go on the 3 cell battery pack...I'm more in to longer flights that super chrisp reactions.

15.4oz the superxtra and supercap both weighed about the same, painted with landing gear, wheels, prop, spinner, servo's, rx, no battery.
