Default New Foamer!!

I'm just getting into foamies and having some problems.

I have a home built foamie about approx. 16oz, with a KMS 31/21 motor, castle creation 25A esc, 11.1v/1300mah Lipo,
question is what kind of prop should I be using?? I've been using a GP1080 (orange and looks like a gws prop)

I know that motor isn't the best, I've got an AXI on the way!

When I run this combo the battery gets HOT!! and the motor also gets very WARM, occasionally the motor shuts off. (Are the batteries supposed to get warm/hot???!

The plane can barely hover. I think level flight would be OK. Am I doing something wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreiciated!

Regards,
Don

Hi Don,
I am not familiar with that motor so maybe someone else can help, but, you have it over propped if its getting the batteries hot and is shutting down.. What does the motor call for? On my foamies I dont go more than 4.7 on the pitch of the prop. Maybe a 10x4.7 APC will help.
