RE: Super Extra

How will I know when they will be available? Will I receive notification by email or keep checking the site for availability?

Was able to check out successfully so it appears you put some things together. The landing gear was not available yet but, most important, the Xtra was. Can probably get along fine without the gear since I fly over grass at my field. Looking forward to seeing how this big foamy flies.

Yep, flying without gear on grass is not a problem

RE: Super Extra

What is the bare weight of this foamy--Weight minus motor, battery & speed control?

I have been practicing IMAC with my current foamy and don't like the speed in the down lines--way too fast. The pro wing is suppose to slow things down considerably?

Thanks

Hi, I weighed my SX and SuperCap both are 15.4oz minus battery ready to fly with landing gear. Pretty good for a 45" plane! This is painted, decals, spinner, prop, motor, esc, all servo's, wheels, etc..

Hi John. That should put me at about 18.5oz with 1320TP and 19.5oz with 2000TP. Should be OK with a 2212/26 & 11 x4.7 prop @`17 amps.

Will I notice a significant difference in slower down lines? When I fly a large window with long down lines my current plane is too fast.

with the large low pitch prop it should help slow you down, Im running a hacker a20-20L on my SX and a 10x4.7 and Im really happy with the setup. I have not had one of those axi's yet.

That setup will be more than adiquate! if you already have it, go for it, that will work wonderfully. Good luck

Is the carbon fiber landing gear available for the SX yet as I don't currently see them on your website? Cost?

A buddy of mine and myself are looking to get a couple of these as we lost our AMA flying field and figure we could fly these anywhere....portability with a larger plane feel. I looked at all of the foamys and it appears that the SX and SCAP are the best constructed I have seen.

Oh I also see that you list the Phoenix 25 ESC to use. Hacker has such an attractive combo on the A20-20L and the X-20 it's tempting. What will I be losing if I go with a Hacker ESC

Thanks

I fly the SX with a A20-20l and the x20 speed control. It works fine. I am using a Falcon 2200mah battery with HS55's and Electron 6 with the case. The plane will spend most of its time at 1/2 throttle or less. Only time I have used near full throttle was pulling out of a hover at the tail end of the pack.

Mike, the Hacker combo is an excellent power package for the Supers. A friend and I each have that setup in our Super Caps and they are not lacking for power. We are running 10x4.7 props, I have a Falcon 1550 3S and my friend has a Kokam 2100 3S. Both planes fly great. Sorry to hear you lost your field, we recently lost ours and have to drive a good distance to get to the nearest RC club. We just got some video of our Super Caps and will hopefully have something up on the 3DF website soon. The Super Cap and Extra really are the best constructed and flying large foamies out there. I have taken mine to a few fly-ins in NC and everyone that has seen it has been very impressed with its construction and flight performance. We have flown ours in more wind than any other foamies and they handled it just fine.
