E-Flight Yak-54F Setup
 

I'm setting up my first electric 3D airplane and I find that this Yak needs very long servo arms. I had planned on using my GWS Nano servo,s but can't find servo arms long enough. (Need to be about 2" total, 1" either side of the hub.) I can find long servo arms, but none that fit the GWS.

Also, the hobby shop said that the pull-pull wires must be parallel to each other. Is this really necessary? If not, that would solve my servo arm problem.

Hello,

This is incorrect information. You need to cross your pull pull system like an X. This creates the optimum geometry. Good luck!

what do you mean cross them, like top of elevator goes to bottom of servo and vice versa?

Parallel works fine as long as your servo horn and rudder/elevator horn attachment points are of equal width. It is also important that your horn at the control surface has it's attachment points for the cable in line with the hinge line. I hope that makes sence. If not, let me know and I will try and post o picture of what I mean.

I have heard of crossing the lines and I have tried it on one plane but didn't notice that it was better or worse... so I left it that way. All my other planes are running the parallel setup.

Thanks for the input guys,

I went with the parallel setup because I had already built up the servo horns to the same size as the control surface horns. Plane flies great once I figured out the balance. Recommended balance point was tail heavy and quite exciting. I moved the battery 3/8 inch forward and it made a big difference. Very fun to fly now! Power is an e-flight 400, with the gearbox. Plenty of power.

Thats rediculous,

Some giant scale planes are set-up for crossed pull-pull systems, but the yak canot be set-up this way. The lines have to run paralel to each other on the yak.

I agree with not crossing ... I tried this and it didn't work.
