ANY BACKYARD 3D FOAMY KITS
 

Anything to fly in 1/4 acre spot? Flying Aero Aces but 3D sounds very cool. I did see a 12 inch wing balsa electric plane that was cool but not for $579.00. Just asking for a lead! Ron

Hi, my mini kits can be flown in a small area, and indoors. Thats about the best I have for that small of a spot.

IMO, even the 3D Foamy Pro 3D planes can be flown in a 1/4 acre once you are competent with them. I can easily keep my 14oz park flyers within a 50' x 50' area and rarely fly them more than 100' away. Low and slow is what these 3d planes are all about.

The problem with going to the really small and lightweight planes, less than 8-9oz, is that they tend to not handle wind very well.

Most planes look large for small yard. A33 inch wing seems tooo big to me. Should it be smaller?How big are your park flyers ?Ron

My park flyers range from 30" balsa monoplanes to 36" foam biplanes. They can be flown very slowly and remain highly maneuverable which is required to fly in a small area. Unless you're gonna fly really, really small and light planes that are basically indoor planes only you are going to need to have a highly maneuverable plane such as the 3D Foamy kits.

If you can fly fairly well you'll have little trouble flying the 3D Foamy Pro kits within a 1/4 acre IMO. I often fly under the lights in the parking lot at work and the area I generally fly in maybe 125' x 60'. However, I fly mostly 3D so there is very little high speed.

FWIW, the quality of the 3D Foamy planes is far superior to the Efilte foam planes IMO. They also fly like planes and will glide very nicely. My Eflite Ultimate would fly 3D just fine, but would not fly like a regular plane very well and would not glide worth a darn.

I have to agree with Chris. I had an e-flight Ultimate as well. 3d was ok but the rest of the flight envelope was just a block of foam. 3d Foamy planes will fly like a foamy when you want them to, they perform like an airplane as well...which translates to my Giant 3d airplanes. I have a Pro Sukhoi currently and have flown indoors with no problem it in a 2,000 sq ft warehouse. John may even have some pictures. There is quite a following with these planes and I bought my first 3d Foamy from Levi several years ago and been hooked to these ever since. I tried other foamys since, but always end up with one of John's.
