Which Plane ?

John, I am coming back after a couple of years off. I have the following components:

1. Himax 2015-4100 + gearbox
2. Castle Creations 25amp ESC
3. 11.1V 1200mah Lipo batteries
4. GWS 1260 props (big orange ones)
5. TX & Berg RX.

I was flying a home design Edge 540 and some YAK from downloaded plans. The Yak was quite difficult to fly and had some tail vibration issues. The Edge flew better but I dorked it in last weekend when trying to regain some flying skills.

OK, finally the question: Which of your planes do you recommend for:
1. An easy flier to get back into the swing of things.
2. Something a little more challenging/fun. I don't mind upgrading the motor for this plane if the Himax won't cut it.

Thanks,
Craig.

RE: Which Plane ?

Hi Craig, I think with that motor setup, that the pro planes would be best for you, they are easy to assemble, and fly great. All my planes can be set with low rates for flying around and loops and rolls.. Or max throws for all out 3D.

For the ultimate plane/setup, Hacker A20-20L or equivalent and my super kits, a little more assembly time, but the end result is worth it.
Hope that helps

Thanks,

I'll order an Edge to try and If I like it I'll get a Super Xtra + Hacker.

I order a Edge 540t from Art-Tech 3 weaks ago. When it came, took out parts ,many did not fit so good. had a hard time geting things just right. This was my first 3D plane. The first flight last about 10 sec., broke off the nose. Got some epoxy by Great Planes and had another flight.Same as first, now the motor is shot.Do you know of anyone who has had this same luck.Like to try 3D ,what would be a good first time plane. RE: Which Plane ?

I would stay away from art-tech. I carry most of the name brands in my shop and no longer buy this brand. The quality isn't up to my standards and support from the manufacturer is hard to get also.
