Um I would say nothing really unless you wanted to use body filler which wouldn't make much sense. If you sanded it down smooth that would probably make the chasis to thin and make it much easier to bend or break. What the guy previous was saying was to take a wire brush and get it to bare metal. Then spray primer and then the paint.
