Default Very Long Header = Short Pipe?

Looking for a bit of help from someone who knows.

Ive put a SH28 in a Cen funfactor, and wanted the pipe to fit in the stock location, along the side. I had 2 options either mount it forwards and have a very long header or backwards and have just a "slightly" longer header than is normal. I went for the latter, but am not convinced Im getting the full engines potential because of the long header.

Theres a pic below of what I bodged up to try it out. Its very, very tight for tyre clearance amongst other things. I was just thinking that, given the nature of 2 strokes, maybe an OS T1030 pipe would maybe help up the performance a little, as its shorter than my .21 pipe and would maybe allow for the extra length of the header... and maybe make better power? My current header is about twice the length of regular setups - do you see where Im coming from?

Im about to buy a T2050 pipe, not cheap, just wondering if the money might be better spent elsewhere? I hope that all makes sense.

Thanks for any help.
