RE: Plane for a 3w24?
The 3W 24 will pull around 11 to 11-1/2 lbs. very nicely. It will 3D, but will not be an animal by any means. The key is to fit it to the proper frame. The most popular combo for that engine was the original 3W 'Extra Fun' which built between 10-1/2 to 11-1/2 lbs. The secret to its success on that bird was that it sported 1320 sq. in. wing area. For that weight, it was a great combo.
A proper running 24 will yeild app. 7400 rpm spinning an 18/8. I forget the thrust #s.
The second edition Extra Fun was 1 lb. lighter with a 28i on the same wing area. Now that is an animal.
Back to your original question.
This is just me thinking out loud, I have not tried this. If you like bipes, I always thought it would do well on a GP Super Stearman, as that frame would carry the weight and sport around pretty good with the right prop. Can't tell you how the build is, but if a friend of mine gets off his duff and builds his, I will get back with it.
I'm sure there will be some very qualified suggestions to follow by others.
Good luck and let us know how you make out. Joe
