Question: It may be obvious, I do not see a reason for seperate pieces.
This is very true and was my plan initially (check the CAD image). My problem was that I sanded a little too much of the sheeting to begin with. Which is why I used the stringers.
I just allow the sheeting to extend beyond the vertical member, then use sandpaper warpped over the leading edge of the Aileron to sand the taper.
The Modkat uses a progressive airfoil so the tip and root aileron rib are not the same type airfoil. Which is why I couldn't use the method suggested. I got so caught up in installing the hinges on this aircraft I forgot to explain the generic set up.
