It's time to create a UAV topic. Lithium Polymer was the big enabler in 2006. UAV is going to be the big enabler in 2007.

The cost of inertial measurement and GPS units are falling through the floor. These things are also getting smaller. 2007 is probably the year you'll start seeing flying robots start to appear, like Star Wars, doing many of the things currently done by tripods, cranes, manned helicopters, and cars.

Personally don't see an immediate future in IR, sonar, or video recognition. It's going to be GPS and inertia, probably with a single chip GPS+6 degree of freedom sensor+microprocessor coming out in 2007.
