If you go to the Savage forum you will see this is a common problem with the stock shoes. Has nothing to do with the springs as the springs only retract the shoes. I put the alloy shoes in with the same springs and did not have a problem! The alloy shoes hook up great. Like I said go to the Savage forum and look around. [8D]
