Default Metal Spur Gears Eat Clutch Bell Gears

After upgrading the spur gears to metal on my CEN MT2, 5 to 6 runs later, the new spur gears have chewed up gears on my clutch bell. Was I supposed to upgrade the clutch bell gears? They were already metal and the spur gears were plastic. Now they're running metal to metal, which seemed like they would last. But, oviously for only a few runs. What should have I done? Perhaps I should just go back to the plastic/nylon factory T44 and T47 factory spur gears. Any suggestions out there?
