You know I picked up some of the same exact stuff (I believe), and think it was Monokote brand self stick covering. I'm not 100% sure but it's not vinyl, has the same feel as monokote but slightly heavier (due to the self stick adhesive), and works great for small repairs and graphics. I will try the sign shop.
I found it listed on the internet in 3'x15 ft rolls. A bit more than I need.
