My suggestion would be to take it to the LHS. You might be surprised how helpful those people can be. A lot of times they will help you out so youll come back and probably not even charge you for anything but parts. If its an older guy thats owned the shop for a while youll probably get a big ole smile from him when he looks at it. Its kinda hard to give any advice on something like that without actually looking at it. My guess for the needles would be flush for the lowend and 4 to 5 turns out on the high end. It sound like that engine might not have been run at all so you will need to break-in the engne by running it rich.
