Default Super Chipmunk

The first time I tried to land the Chippie, I never got more than 6 ft off the deck!!! I figured that it would take a "fly to the surface" landing, akin to an Extra, etc. Wrongo!! This baby glides, and glides, and glides. One thing that you will appreciate in this model is that it is very forgiving, yet agile. If you don't fly for a while, have no fear getting it back into the air. it will serve you just as well as any Sunday sport flyer going.

Ground handling is great, as noted above. Be absolutely certain to bend the landing gear wire forward so that the wheels are forward of the CG. It will nose over in a heart beat if you don't. The manner in which the gear wire came in my kit, it placed the wheels right under the CG. I kept cutting grass until I figured it out.

Also, take a few extra moments to beef up the landing gear torque plate. Again, read about it in the review at Howard Sullivan's site.

If you don't already have one, invest in a $6 long drill bit, or borrow one from a friend. You'll need it to drill the path for the rudder push rod.

It really amazes me. Everyone out there has a CapExtraEdge (sorry guys...). I just don't see the Chippie but rarely. What a shame. I personally would have loved to get my hands on the Ohio R/C Chippmunk before they folded.
