Default Buddy Cable for E-Flite CP/ CPP

Hey, Everybody. Been flying for quite a few months now. I think I've managed to get myself into almost every situation I could, and with only a small dent on the wallet, managed to learn how to get myself out of them. Anyway, the natural course of events happened, and I've got most of my friends hooked on these little buggers now.

So the question. I'm trying to avoid my buddies having to dip into their pocket books too much more (some of them are hundreds of $$$ in already and have only managed to hover for a few seconds). I don't want them to get frustrated and quit the hobby so I've offered to get a buddy cable and be the local Instructor Pilot.

Anyway, my question. I looked at the buddy cord plug on the E-flite controllers, and it looks to be the exact same plug as an S-video cable. Has anyone tried this with an S-Video cable? I would hate to spend $10+ on an E-flite buddy cord if I could've gotten an S-video cable for $2.
