In the first image, the mid-morning sun was in front of and slightly to the right of the subject. Your enhanced version appears too pixelated for my taste. In the second image, you are correct, the sun was above and behind me. That was unavoidable due to the layout of the flying field and safety considerations. As a matter of taste, I still prefer the original image (and not because it's mine). As a rule, I believe photography is art, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Nothing personal
