RE: Wheres the long term fun in bashing?
Bashing is mostly boring. Unlike racing, there is no real yardstick to measure who was the better driver that day. No way to tell how much your driving is improving, and most important of all, no real competition. You also have very little chance of making new R/C friends, whereas at a big race you might meet 100 new people and make lots of friends.
Where's the true competition in bashing? How can you really say that you took those jumps better than your friend? Perhaps some arbitrary 1-10 rating from passersby? Competitive bashing is like playing a game with no rules. Not much fun.
Racing gives you: A structured format and a mostly level playing field in which to test your skills against others. A great place to make new friends - friends who are already into R/C and often someone you can bounce R/C ideas off of. And a way to measure your performance. Down to a hundredth of a second!
