You know I make mandatory mods to every Arf I have, mainly because I overpower them. IMHO anyone who flys an ARF without strengthening it is asking for trouble.
* One thing I have yet to do is build an ARF in its prescribed time. 8hrs, 10hrs 12 hrs. Who cares. Takes me at least a month since i am not in any hurry. All mine turn out top notch and last.
Never heard a story like yours on the H-9 P-51. Mine is still in the box awaiting its arrival of a Saito 180.
