Default Typhoon 3D for combat?

Has anybody flown the Parkzone Typhoon 3D for combat? About 6 of us recently got Typhoons and have been having a ball trying to take each other out of the sky. Prop vs wing tip, prop vs firewall, prop vs tail feathers; we've seen it all. Yesterday two of them 'mated' belly to belly and got locked together by the landing gear. Down they go from about 50 feet up. One had bent landing gear, and the other had a nick out of it's rudder. That's it. No other damage.

The worst you can do is break a firewall (we are reinforcing ours with epoxy and 3/4 oz cloth), but a little 5 minute epoxy and you are flying again. For $160 you get the airplane RTF, just add RX and battery. We are using 11.1V 2100ma Lipos. The stock ESC is programmable for Lipo or conventional cells. The stock BRUSHLESS motor is awesome, and it will hover this little beast at 1/2 to 2/3 throttle (and we are at 3500 feet ASL).

I have never done combat before, if that's what you call what we are doing. I understand most combat is done with streamers, but it is such a hoot actually trying to knock your buddy out of the sky. We are going to get some surveyor's tape and try that next time we meet. It is extremely challenging trying to have a mid-air, but I have had 3 in the last four flights I have had. The first one, I just hovered there waiting for my next victim, using my periphial vision to target. He actually came to me right from underneath. My prop sliced off his firewall, as his prop took 1 1/2" of aileron and wingtip off of me. I rocked slightly but sustained my hover. He went down, with firewall connected by motor wires only...until he instinctivly powered up. The firewall then departed, and the plane spiraled on down. He was flying it again in half an hour...his battery hadn't even fully charged yet.

The servos it comes with are a little on the low quality side, 40 flights and you will need to replace them (we are using Hitec 55's). You will also shorten the lifespan by flying like us maniacs do, LOL. Get a few friends and try this. It's hilarious seeing 4 or 5 of them up all swarming around eachother. It's like watching moths at a light bulb.

I must add that this is all being done on private farm ground, with the nearest neighbor over 3 miles away. We are a private group, who just recently got into electrics. We are not affiliated with an AMA field.
